Marne-la-Vallée, France site chosen, letter of intent signed with French government

From a shortlist of four locations, two in France and two in Spain, Walt Disney Productions settles on Marne-la-Vallée as the location of its European theme park resort with the signing of a letter of intent between CEO Michael Eisner and French Prime Minister Laurent Fabius. The first financial contracts for the 4,940 acre site is expected to be signed within three months, with the project providing 6,000 jobs during its five-year construction and a further 10,000 after opening. It will initially be designed to accommodate 10 million guests a year.
